NEC and Polycom have teamed to enable desktop collaboration using the NEC Univerge SV8100 communications server and the Polycom VVX1500 business media phone, giving users the ability to hold video calls at their desk.
The NEC Univerge SV8100 is a scalable communications server aimed at the SMB space, supporting TDM, IP, video, wired or wireless connections and with features that can be transparently shared between branches or remote locations.
The Polycom VVX1500 features an intuitive, color touch-screen interface for voice, video and applications; instant, one-touch business-grade videoconferencing right from the desktop; and adjustable camera, base, and display to suit the environment and provide eye-level visual interactions. Additionally, the VVX1500 is highly customizable to enable third-party applications.
The growing role of video in business collaboration is undeniable as businesses and workers seek more meaningful ways of collaborating in the face of shrinking travel and operating budgets,” said Jay Krauser, general manager and senior technology strategist, NEC Corporation of America in a release. The integration of the SV8100 with Polycoms VVX1500 is an example of the type of video collaboration we plan to continue to drive across software- and appliance-based platforms moving forward.”
