In its efforts to compete with the always expanding Apple App store, Google announced that its Android Market has reached an important milestone.
The search giant said via its Twitter account that you can now find 100,000 apps in the Android Market. That may pale in comparison to Apple which now boasts as many as 300,000, depending on what sources you believe but its certainly a respectable number. At some point, there has to be some market saturation. Seriously, does anyone have time to peruse a 300,000-app market? Or 100,000 for that matter?
While still trailing in the apps race, Android claims to have a much higher percentage of free apps as a selling point for its devices. And many developers, unhappy with Apples walled garden” approval process, have defected to Android as their operating system of choice.
