Clearwire is using FiberLights optical transport routes to bring its CLEAR service to more regions, with the aim of covering 80 markets by the end of this year, FiberLight said on Friday. So far, Clearwire is using more than 900 route miles of FiberLights network to do just that.
In Miami, we were able to build a brand new Clearwire connection to the NAP of the Americas within 30 days and provided a 90-day turnaround for a 32-mile optical network build from Miami to Kendall, Fla.,” said Ben Edmond, FiberLight;s executive vice president of sales and marketing, in a prepared statement.
FiberLight has connected Clearwires key aggregation points, cell towers and mobile switching offices that could serve as the backbone for millions of Clearwire users. Demand for fiber-based transport is increasing at unprecedented rates thanks to mobile data consumption.
