The BlackBerry Bold 9780 is expected to be one of Research In Motions hottest smartphone releases in some time, and were beginning to get details about how much itll cost you to pick one up.
Although theres no official release date confirmed in the U.S. or in Europe, the latest version of the Bold is expected to make its debut soon. And the website BBLeaks is showing off screen shots that say Vodafone UK customers can get the phone for free if they select a data plan of £35 (about $55 U.S.) or more on a two-year service plan, £5 less than the new BlackBerry Torch, which debuted to mixed results earlier this year.
BBLeaks further says the Bold 9780 will be available in black and white. Expect it to have a 5-megapixel camera, 512MB of RAM, full QWERTY keyboard, 624MHz processor, and most significant to returning BlackBerry customers, it will run on RIMs most recent operating system release, BlackBerry OS 6.
There are no official pricing details yet available for customers in the U.S. Although not confirmed by the companies, we learned yesterday that the new Bold will make its debut on Virgin Mobile Canada on Oct. 21, setting you back $149 with a two-year service agreement. T-Mobile USA is rumored to get the device on Nov. 3.
Research In Motion is eager to quell its depleting worldwide smartphone market share as competition from Apple’s iPhone and Google’s Android platform continues to get stiffer.
