XETA To Acquire Agent/Dealer

Oklahoma-based communications solutions provider  XETA Technologies Inc. announced Aug. 26 a definitive agreement to acquire New Jersey-based Data-Com Telecommunications Inc., a privately held communications equipment dealer and telecom agent. The transaction is targeted to close during XETA’s fourth fiscal quarter.

This is XETAs third acquisition so far in 2010. In August it closed on its  purchase of fellow Avaya-Nortel dealer Pyramid Communications Services Inc., Carrollton, Texas. In May it signed a definitive agreement to acquire Hotel Technology Solutions Inc., dba Lorica Solutions, a privately held company based in Buffalo, N.Y.,  that provides managed communications services to the hospitality industry. The transaction is targeted to close during XETAs third fiscal quarter.

The Data-Com buy is touted as a geographic play for XETA, strengthening its presence in the New York metro area.

"Data-Com is a strong regional player with many well-known enterprise customers in the New York City metro area," said Greg Forrest, CEO of XETA. "With a sizable service base, this acquisition brings a strong sales and operations team and further scales our business in the region."

In addition, the two companies have some synergies in their product competencies; both represent Avaya/Nortel and ShoreTel. Data-Com adds solutions to XETAs portfolio from Allworx, AVST and Nuance as well as carrier services from PAETEC and Optimum Lightpath.

"Data-Com is a strong regional player with many well-known enterprise customers in the New York City metro area," said Greg Forrest, CEO of XETA. "With a sizable service base, this acquisition brings a strong sales and operations team and further scales our business in the region."
