As a member of the program, PEER 1 will use VMWares virtualization platform to build private, secure cloud environments for customers to run Web-based applications and enjoy the flexibility and cost-savings of a virtualized environment. Users of the new Private Cloud powered by VMware offering will be able to manage and monitor their private clouds using VMWare vSphere.
The offering runs on PEER 1s 10Gb SuperNetwork backbone, offering faster performance, low latency and no single point of failure, according to the company. In addition, VMware Certified Professionals will be available to assist customers, as well as PEER 1s 24x7x365 FirstCall Support.
VMWares Service Provider Program was created in 2007 and incorporates a licensing model that makes the VMware Infrastructure suite available to hosting providers on a per-virtual machine, per-month basis. Hosting providers can develop their own customized virtual infrastructure as service offerings that “rent” VMware virtual machine capacity to end customers. Under the PEER 1 offering, three VMWare vSphere licenses are available: Standard, Advanced and Enterprise Plus.
PEER 1 has an established channel partner program with four tiers of partnership based on level of engagement. In addition to receiving recurring revenue including 10 percent monthly recurring commissions for life at the Platinum level, according to the company channel partners receive discounts, support, sales and marketing tools and dedicated resources. The companys referral program, the lowest partnership tier, rewards those companies not interested in becoming full-fledged partners but want to enjoy one-time commissions on deals.
