New Edge Networks, the managed services business communications unit of EarthLink Inc., announced Thursday that telecom and channel veteran Tony Palazzolo joined the company Aug. 1 as national channel manager, focusing on developing and building agent relationships in the eastern region of the country.
This is a new post at New Edge; the company has three other channel managers one in the Midwest and two on the West Coast, according to Michele Sadwick, vice president of corporate communications for New Edge.
New Edge has seen a tremendous response to our value proposition from partners on the East Coast, and we wanted to provide those partners access to a well-known and respected local manager to grow those partnerships,” Sadwick said of creating the new position and Palazzolos hiring.
Palazzolo has 26 years of experience in the telecommunications market. He joins New Edge from XO Communications Inc. where he was most recently director of business development for the partner sales channel. His experience also includes sales leadership and business development positions at Network International Solutions, WorldCom, Switch and Data Facilities, ARC Networks and Teleport Communications.
Palazzolo holds a masters degree in Computer Science from SUNY at Stony Brook and a bachelors in Electrical Engineering from Polytechnic Institute of NYU.
Palazzolo will focus on creating new agent partnerships, introducing them to New Edges channel-neutral structure that allows agents to team with 18 New Edge account executives across the country. He also will be managing existing agent relationships by assisting with sales, training and new product launches.

New Edge Networks provides managed IP-based based networks through a mix of private and public connections to deliver secure, managed network solutions. New Edge offers multiple access options from DSL and T1 lines to fiber-optic connections for building MPLS networks.
