It looks like the much-anticipated release of the Motorola Droid 2 smartphone will happen in just two weeks.
Screenshots leaked from an internal Verizon blog show Aug. 12 as the date the phone will become available on the Verizon Wireless network. They confirm that the phone will run on Android 2.2, can be upgraded from 8GB to 32GB, and includes full Flash support and real-time social networking abilities.
We had previously learned that the Droid 2 will have a virtual keyboard, 512MB of RAM, a 5-megapixel camera, a 1GHz processor and more. Expect the price of the new phone to be comparable to its chief rivals around $200 with a two-year Verizon Wireless service agreement.
Of course, leaks like these arent always accurate. Sometimes the company or someone is just messing with us. But the site Droid Life says it now has two separate confirmations that Aug. 12 is D-Day Droid 2 Day.
