Hosted collaboration and VoIP provider Apptix has appointed Aubrey Smoot as vice president of business development. His first priority is to grow the companys business through strategic reseller and channel partnerships. Smoot brings more than 20 years of experience in senior business development roles with major IT firms such as KPMG, HP and IBM/Rational Software, in addition to his most recent stint as vice president of business development for Cernium, an enhanced video monitoring vendor.
With businesses of all sizes turning to hosted solutions as a smarter technology investment, we believe the channel to be a key growth opportunity, said David Ehrhardt, president & CEO of Apptix. Were pleased to welcome a proven technology industry veteran like Aubrey to build upon our work in 2009 and take our partner efforts to a new level. His expertise and experience in fostering strategic relationships will be instrumental in enhancing our reach into the channel community.
Look for Smoot to focus on cloud-delivery models, as well revamping part of its partner program to address vertical market sales, according to a VAR Guy report. Currently, the companys partner program grants agent commissions on any Apttix product made by referral clients, through a two-tier system; resellers, who receive managed retail billing tools, wholesale pricing and billing for bundled reseller offerings, as well as white-label programs such as end customer control panel to Apptixs customer support; and Private Label Partners, which can extend their own services menu with customized, hosted Apptix solutions, sold under their own brand.
Apptixs wide-range of proven hosted services provides an infinite number of routes to market and success through the channel, said Smoot. From the general market down to the unique needs of vertical segments, Apptix has the programs and packages for partners to quickly and cost-effectively reach and serve more customers.
