You wont be able to buy the hotly anticipated iPhone 4 at AT&T retail outlets until next Tuesday, June 29. It was expected that the updated smartphone would become widely available this week most reports indicated Thursday but high demand, AT&T says, is causing the delay.
If you ordered the iPhone from AT&Ts website on June 15, the carrier said in a press release only that you are on track to receive it. A representative will be contacting you via e-mail to let you know when its on its way. Youll get a phone call if you made your pre-order at an AT&T retail store.
The news is just the latest in whats been a bit of a mess for AT&T and Apple sort of. Its better to be forced to suspend sales due to millions of pre-orders rather than for some other reason.
Apple previously said it was delaying delivery of the new iPhones. Those who signed up for one via Apple on June 15 might not see theirs until July 2 or later. If youre ordering one now from the computer giant, you might not see it until mid-July.
For most, it could be well worth the wait. New iPhone 4 features include multitasking capabilities, improved video recording and a front-facing camera.
