MegaPath Taps Chamberlain as Channel Sales Director

MegaPath Inc., a managed IP communications provider, announced Monday that it has hired Darren Chamberlain as director of channel sales, reporting to Dan Foster, chief sales and marketing officer, who will continue to set MegaPath’s channel strategy.

The appointment comes on the heels of MegaPath’s March 31 announcement that it will merge with Covad Communications Co. The deal is expected to close in third quarter. The companies have not shared their plans for a combined channel program.

At MegaPath, Chamberlain will have responsibility for increasing channel sales and productivity. Specifically, he will focus on building relationships with strategic partners and distributors, as well as developing and implementing strategies, plans and programs to improve the partner experience.

Chamberlain comes to the post from a brief stint as vice president of sales at SalesNet Solutions Inc., a VAR where he had in 2007-2008 served as CEO. Prior to his most recent gig, he served for more than two years in channel management at Bandwidth.com, before the VoIP provider shutdown its indirect channel development in October 2009. Previously he was general manager of sales at Global Crossing Ltd., senior indirect sales manager XO Communications Inc., channel manager at Sprint and an account development manager at Cable & Wireless.

“With more than 18 years of telecommunications experience, and 15 of those in channel management, Darren’s experience and relationships with key distributors will be a great asset to MegaPath as our channel business grows,” said Foster.

One of those master agents is Telecom Brokerage Inc. “Having known Darren for seven years, he has proven his abilities and talents to drive success through any channel program. His passion and strong business acumen in all aspects of the channel are just two reasons for his success as a leader,” said TBI’s Senior Vice President Ken Mercer. “With Darren’s understanding of the channel environment, and his boundless energy for each relationship being managed within the company, I see great things on the horizon for MegaPath and its partners.”

MegaPath’s Channel Partner Program consists of four levels, including Referral, Advantage, Master and Reseller.

MegaPath offers broadband connectivity, VPN, VoIP and security services to help businesses communicate between their headquarters, branch offices, retail locations, mobile workers and business partners.
