AT&T said on Thursday the newly signed Networx contract is worth up to $29 million and lasts for up to seven years. AT&T will deploy a WAN network and secure the EPA’s Internet traffic with measures including intrusion detection, incident response and managed firewall. The service provider also will oversee network engineering and design, maintenance and training.
The federal government several years ago launched the Networx program to upgrade its various agencies’ technology. Companies including Sprint Nextel Corp. (S) and Qwest Communications International Inc. (Q) are carrying out projects under Networx deals.
Shares of AT&T closed up 1.04 percent on Thursday at $26.11.
