Security provider McAfee launched a new program for SaaS providers looking to enhance the security of data floating around the cloud.
The McAfee Cloud Secure program, which features certification and remediation as its two main components, is designed to quell the fear end users have about inadequate security in cloud environments, according to the company.
Cloud Secure includes annual cloud security certification for existing security controls, processes and certifications as well as future cloud security standards, administered through various third-party certification vendors. Through the program, service providers can have their environments certified as secure, reducing end-user anxiety over the safety of their data.
The program also features daily automated auditing, remediation and reporting of the security status of the service provider’s environment, providing up-to-date, real-time information and reducing the possibility of security gaps or breaches. Service providers that pass the daily scan and other checks receive a “McAfee SECURE” trustmark they can use on their solutions and in marketing collateral.
“McAfee Cloud Secure is our first step toward proactive and comprehensive security certifications and tools for the cloud,” said Marc Olesen, senior vice president and general manager, McAfee Software-as-a-Service. “With the McAfee Cloud Secure program, we are adding peace of mind for those with cloud deployments, helping end users more easily evaluate and select a safe and secure vendor.”
Future plans for Cloud Secure include incorporating its portfolio of cloud-based security services into the program as well as its Global Threat Intelligence network.
