In a recent PCWorld test, AT&T (T) ranked as the top-performing 3G network. Take that, Verizon. Granted, the test only covered 13 cities, the AT&T’s download speeds came in 67 percent faster than competitors’.
Last spring, AT&T’s download speeds clocked 818kbps; but those speeds jumped to 1410kbps just months later when they were tested in December 2009 and January 2010. In this test by PCWorld, AT&T download speeds beat out those of Sprint, T-Mobile and Verizon, coming in at 67 percent faster on average.
AT&T is also boasting improved reliability with testers able to connect on 94 percent of attempts; whereas, last year, only 68 percent of those attempts were successful.
PCWorld said that last year’s “winner,” Verizon Wireless, and second place finisher, Sprint, both continued to perform well in the latest tests.
