VoIP wholesaler Momentum said this week its revenue grew 165 percent year-over-year by Jan. 31, 2010, due in large part to more reseller activity.
Those channel partners gained more residential and SMB market share in 2009, and brought it to Momentum, the company said.
“Before we partnered with our resellers, there was little-to-no phone service competition in the Tier II and Tier III markets ” said Alan Creighton, president and CEO of Momentum. “We’ve been working closely with these organizations to ensure they meet their customers’ demands for advanced services and quality, and operators are now attracting customers more effectively from incumbent carriers.”
For 2010, Momentum said it expects the same kind of growth; for example, it’s already seeing the fruits of helping resellers close deals. Sales engineers have been answering potential customers’ questions “at the right times,” said Sarah Pieri, head of sales and marketing, “and the opportunities for success are greatly enhanced.”
Momentum private-labels VoIP service to cable operators and municipalities throughout the U.S. The company is based in Birmingham, Ala. Momentum uses suppliers including Level 3 Communications Inc., which provides the enhanced local services.
