Technology Law Group (TLG) is hosting discussions exclusively for agents on agent-carrier issues, such as agent agreements, terminations, commissions and litigation, at the Channel Partners Conference & Expo, March 1-3, in Las Vegas.
Four 45-minute sessions will be held from 1:30-4:30 p.m., March 2, in the Coral A Meeting Room at the Mandalay Bay Resort & Casino. The first three sessions will address DeltaCom, TelePacific and XO Communications, respectively. The fourth session is an open discussion.
“The objective of the discussions groups is to assemble groups of agents who can identify the challenges they currently face and to discuss how they can improve their business operations and their carrier relationships,” said Neil Ende, TLG’s managing partner. “The discussion groups also will provide a forum for agents to describe how they have successfully addressed these challenges and to identify the issues where they have not been able to develop business solutions.”
Ende said most problems between agents and carriers are direct results of poorly drafted and unbalanced agreements and can be avoided through negotiation of clear and balanced agreements. “We hope to use the discussion groups to identify those areas where disputes are most likely to arise and to discuss strategies and terms of agreement that will help the parties to avoid these disputes,” Ende said.
In addition, the discussions will provide a forum for agents whose agreements have been or threatened to be terminated. “These discussion groups will provide agents the opportunity to discuss with each other how they might work together to respond to these terminations and to better understand their legal options,” Ende said.
