Oh, Palm Pre. Every piece of good news seems to be bring a bit of the bad.
Just days after announcing a deal with Verizon Wireless that could lead to a boost in sales in the U.S., a new report says the Pre is performing dreadfully in the U.K. and Ireland. MobileIndustryReview quotes a source who says Palm has only sold 220 Pres in Ireland. Keep in mind, the Pre was released there on Oct. 16, so if true, that’s fewer than three sales a day in that country. And, the publication says, U.K. sales aren’t any better.
The best speculation is that the release of the iPhone 3G S prior to the Pre sapped a lot of enthusiasm for the device. The Pre beat the iPhone to store shelves in the U.S.
