There’s more evidence today that Google will debut its Nexus One smartphone next month.
The company has sent out an invitation to the media for an event on Jan. 5. It’s expected that the search engine giant will give details about the new touchscreen phone, including when it will go on sale.
Google gave a handful of the phones to employees earlier this month, and word about them has been spreading. The company intends to sell directly to customers, operating initially on the T-Mobile network in the U.S.
Meantime, some more Nexus One details have emerged, thanks to what the Web site Gizmodo says come from one of its tipsters. The price, the site says, will be $180 if you sign up for a two-year wireless network contract. Without the contract, it’s $530.
