The new Palo Alto Networks survey shows that company promotions and sales on Twitter have risen more than 250 percent in the past six months. The news is almost as good for Facebook, which saw its site used 192 percent more in the past six months for business promotions and sales. That includes both company-backed promotion, in addition to “tweets” and Facebook posts that the bosses don’t know about.
The report covers the gamut of industries, from manufacturing to government to health care and many more. While the numbers provide an interesting snapshot of social media’s recent business success, Palo Alto Networks hopes companies will look at the stats and consider they’re becoming more vulnerable to security problems.
