Arbinet Lowers Private Exchange Fees

Minutes trader Arbinet Corp. (ARBX) said Wednesday it has lowered the fees for transporting traffic on its private exchange service by up to 57 percent.

“We are working hard to provide the international voice community with flexible, cost-effective ways to originate and terminate voice traffic,” said Dan Powdermaker, senior vice president of sales and marketing for Arbinet, in a prepared statement.

The cost reductions on the outsourced service “are one of a number of changes we have made at Arbinet to help our customers, suppliers and Exchange members more effectively serve their end-users and compete,” Powdermaker added.

A TeliaSonera representative said using Arbinet’s private exchange saves his company capex, provisioning, protocol conversion and back-office expenses.

“Arbinet handles everything except the negotiation of rates between TeliaSonera and our suppliers,” said Tobias Skog, head of trading and mobile data for TeliaSonera.
