Dick Costolo will start his new job next week, according to Reuters.
Twitter might be popular (to the tune of 44.5 million unique visitors in June) but it still hasn’t figured out how to make money. The company’s co-founder has talked of using “analytics” tools, Reuters said, as well as commercial accounts to generate revenue. Costolo presumably will be tasked with helping make that happen.
Costolo’s hiring comes about eight months after Twitter hired its first-ever director of mobile business development.
Costolo founded the FeedBurner service, which Google bought in 2007.
