A number of media reports today say the U.S. telco is vying for a 25-percent stake in BSNL, the state-controlled communications provider in India.
But BSNL’s chairman on Wednesday refuted the rumors, telling reporters, “No one has approached BSNL,” Reuters said.
In 2005, AT&T sold its 33 percent share in Idea Cellular, a move it probably regrets because that stake now would be worth more than $3 billion, as opposed to the mere $250 million gleaned from the sale.
