Annoyed you can’t send picture messages from the iPhone? You’re not alone. A class action lawsuit in Louisiana is being mounted against Apple Inc. and AT&T Inc., with plaintiffs contending the companies touted picture messaging even when the iPhone doesn’t support it.
The lack of MMS capability amounts to false advertising, the filing says: Apple “advertised heavily that the new version of iPhone, the 3G, as well as the even newer version the 3G-S would allow MMS. Apple’s print and video advertisements in and on television, the Internet, the radio, newspapers and direct mailers all touted the availability of MMS.”
The suit, which claims to have 10,000 supporters, also alleges that AT&T is not MMS-capable, making the claims all the more egregious.
