The summer solstice might be past but AT&T Inc. is still appealing to the sunnier sides of life, with the launch of the social media-focused Samsung Solstice, available Aug. 2.
The Solstice is a 3G touchscreen phone (with virtual landscape QWERTY keyboard) that provides users with an instant connection to social networking, messaging and multimedia features through new widgets for Facebook, MySpace, and Yahoo! oneSearch. It also comes with Samsung’s TouchWiz user interface, which includes one-touch access to frequently used applications and social networks. Users can “drag-and-drop” widgets onto the phone’s home screen for one touch access to their favorite features.
Native on the phone is AT&T Navigator, AT&T Mobile Music with Napster Mobile and eMusic Mobile, plus e-mail, IM and picture messaging. A 2.0 megapixel camera with camcorder rounds out the features.
The Solstice will set social butterflies back $149.99 with a two-year service agreement and messaging or data plan of $20 or more, but with a mail-in rebate they can receive a $50 AT&T Promotion Card.
AT&T, CenturyLink and Connectwise are among those adding drama to telecom, IT and the channel since last fall. https://t.co/YTBVQGjWqt
