Nortel Networks Corp.’s wireless division went on the auction block this morning. Nokia Siemens Networks, MatlinPatterson and Ericsson all are duking it out for the chance to take over the CDMA and LTE assets.
Research In Motion this week was shut out of the bidding.
The winning bidder could be announced at any time, but as some in the blogosphere point out, the results may not be the results – the bankruptcy courts first have to approve the bidder.
Meanwhile, Canada’s finance minister said he agrees with Research In Motion that the government needs to scrutinize any Nortel sale. A number of people are concerned about the fabled company leaving Canada.
