That’s one of the questions industry observers are asking this week as Nortel edges closer to a breakup, which is sure to happen tomorrow during a court-sanction auction of the wireless unit.
Avaya probably would off any all-software products first, a Frost & Sullivan analyst told SearchUnifiedCommunications.com, citing Nortel’s CallPilot unified messaging platform as an example. After that, product consolidation could take years, the analyst added. That’s because Avaya would still be dealing with Nortel contracts and customers.
