AT&T Workers March Against Proposed Contract Changes

Despite the headway made between AT&T Inc. and its unionized employees in the Midwest, agreements have yet to be reached for Communications Workers of America (CWA) in other regions.

That was apparent yesterday as staffers in the south marched in front of AT&T’s Birmingham headquarters on Monday. Their contract will expire Aug. 8 but they’re not happy with AT&T’s proposed concessions, which they say includes higher health care burdens for workers as well as less job security. (Um, hello, welcome to the real world??)

A CWA spokesman told The Birmingham News the union has restarted negotiations with AT&T.
