The No. 1 mobile operator in Britain, O2, has won the exclusive rights to carry the Palm Pre smartphone in that country.
O2, a subsidiary of Telefonica, also has exclusivity for the iPhone.
“We are fast becoming the home of the smartphone with the addition of the hotly anticipated Palm Pre to our already extensive portfolio,” said Telefónica Europe chief executive, Matthew Key, said in a statement. “Our customers will be the first outside of North America to experience one of the most successful mobile devices of the year.”
