Nortel Networks says it’s made available to businesses worldwide a new software-centric, feature-rich release of its Communication Server 1000. The company calls the CS 1000 its enterprise foundation for communications and telephony-based unified communications.
With this latest release, 6.0, Nortel claims CS 1000 provides even greater simplicity, resiliency, security, openness and energy efficiency.
As part of release 6.0, CS 1000 offers new features including greater centralization of functions that can further help enterprises to reduce the total cost of ownership of their network solution, according to the company. For example, a new high-density services gateway, the Media Gateway 1010, centralizes the provision of communications services and applications to simplify operations across the network. Another component of release 6.0, the Unified Communications Management Solution manages CS 1000 as the network’s UC foundation and provides a framework that allows centralized management of all converged network elements. A Linux-based software solution provides simplified diagnostics and serviceability. Release 6.0 also expands CS 1000 options for COTS platforms adding the IBM x3350 and Dell R300.
Nortel says the CS 1000 provides the benefits of a converged network plus advanced applications and more than 750 world-class telephony features. Fully distributed over IP LAN and WAN infrastructure with built-in reliability and survivability, CS 1000 supports business-critical applications including unified messaging, customer contact center, interactive voice response, wireless VoIP and SIP/IP telephony.
AT&T, CenturyLink and Connectwise are among those adding drama to telecom, IT and the channel since last fall. https://t.co/YTBVQGjWqt
