Providers Get More Time to Comment on Natl Broadband

The FCC has extended by two weeks the deadline for interested parties to comment on details of the developing national broadband plan.

The first round comments closed in early June and, originally, replies were slated for submission by July 7. But, citing “vastness of the record” – more than 500 comments came in during the initial round – the agency approved several entities’ request for extra time.

Congress has tasked the FCC with forming a national broadband policy by next February. Because of that, time is of the essence, the FCC said, and extensions will not be routine with this proceeding.
