Avaya Inc. is being trumpeted as the company most likely to pick up Nortel’s enterprise division.
Some bloggers are optimistic that Nortel will somehow emerge from bankruptcy after it sells its key units, but that’s just it – there wouldn’t be much left. And from the reactions of stockholders and employees, few people would have the patience for the same old Nortel, especially if it still were run by Mike Zafirovski.
So who would make a good takeover candidate for Nortel’s enterprise business? Are we talking other legacy companies such as Alcatel-Lucent (ALU) or more progressive firms such as Cisco Systems Inc. (CSCO)?
