Covad Wireless announced it has expanded its Southern California wireless broadband coverage for businesses in Ventura County by adding a new base station that offers broadband speeds up to 45mbps.
“This new base station will enhance the existing coverage we have had in the Ventura/Oxnard area,” said Lee Gopadze, general manager at Covad. “We continue to expand Covad’s services in these areas, as there are thousands of businesses in Ventura County that need reliable, high-speed broadband, but are underserved by cable and phone-company based services.”
Covad’s fixed-wireless broadband service connects customers to the Internet by means of a dedicated wireless connection rather than by traditional cable or phone lines. This coverage expansion follows Covad Wireless’ recent deployment of a new high-capacity fiber backbone in Southern California and the San Francisco Bay Area. The company has deployed more than 1.5gbps in new fiber capacity this past year in California alone, an indicator of customers’ growing bandwidth demand.
With nearly a decade of presence in the Ventura area, Covad Wireless serves several hundred customers in Ventura, Oxnard, Camarillo, and further inland to Santa Paula and Fillmore. Covad’s local presence in Camarillo allows its sales staff and technicians to provide quick and responsive service, the company said.
