Handset rumor madness continues apace: Images of the BlackBerry Onyx 9600 have sprung onto the Serengeti-like wilds of the Internet. The device is allegedly making its way to launch on the T-Mobile USA network in September. Or maybe AT&T Inc.’s, depending on what report you believe.
The GSM gadget is essentially the Bold without the size, or the Curve with 3G, according to reports. It sports a 3.2 megapixel camera, GPS, Wi-Fi (reports vary as to whether it will have UMA support), a QWERTY keyboard (natch) and the aforementioned 3G. That will make it T-Mobile’s first 3G BlackBerry if indeed that carrier snags it.
The BlackBerry Onyx might also be codenamed the BlackBerry Driftwood. Either way, it will be to GSM what the BlackBerry Niagara is to EV-DO, the blogs note.
