ATIS Urges Universities to Teach Telecom Skills

Technical standards body ATIS is working with universities to update their curricula to reflect the growing need for advanced IT and Ethernet skills in the telecom industry.

Susan Miller, president and CEO of ATIS, told Telephony that ATIS is working with the Education Committee of the American National Standards Institute and the Institute for Telecom Learning at the University of Oklahoma to make telecom training a more inherent part of universities’ learning offerings.

Miller said ATIS has created requirements documents that give guidelines for how to craft a telecom-oriented IT curriculum.
