A new report from Australian online site Smarthouse says the new Palm Pre will go on sale Down Under in August.
A Palm spokesman told Smarthouse that the smartphone would become available there in the second half of the year, but wouldn’t confirm the August date.
This seems to give more credence to the rumors about a June 7 release date (or something close to that) for the Pre in the U.S., knowing the device will be available in America first. The Smarthouse article also mentions the June 7 date, and backs up Monday’s speculation that it might be first available on a trial basis only at Best Buy stores.
It’s believed the Pre will be sold for $199 in the U.S., but Palm won’t confirm that.
