The high-tech sector experienced the most layoffs during the first quarter of 2009 than it has in seven years.
That’s according to new findings from Challenger, Gray & Christmas Inc. High-tech companies said they cut a total of 84, 217 jobs in the three months ending March 31. The firm noted that was the steepest loss since the industry disclosed layoffs of 133,511 in the fourth quarter of 2002.
This marks the fifth consecutive quarter of job cuts among high-tech firms.
