The recession is nothing but good for one mobile service provider.
MetroPCS Communications Inc. (PCS) on Tuesday pre-announced record subscriber adds from the first quarter. The Dallas-based no-contract carrier said 684,000 net new users signed up during the three months ending March 31.
The number far exceeds Wall Street analysts’ projections.
Granted, 684,000 might not sound like much compared to the behemoth mobile carriers in the United States. But it is impressive given that MetroPCS has fewer customers overall than its larger rivals.
MetroPCS adoption grew most in Boston, New York and Philadelphia.
