MetaSwitch has appointed longtime executive John Lazar as its new CEO.
Lazar formerly served as president and COO of MetaSwitch’s carrier division. He replaces founder Ian Ferguson, who will remain as chairman.
“We have recognized over the last year that the company needed a CEO with the strategic vision, management capability, and stamina to see us into the next phase of our growth,” Ferguson said in a prepared statement. “We were exceptionally fortunate to have that talent within our own management ranks.”
Lazar now will oversee the network protocols and carrier units. MetaSwitch is planning to consolidate all of its products and business operations under the MetaSwitch brand. Until that happens, the network protocols business will continue under the Data Connection name.
MetaSwitch makes softswitches and gateways for carriers; it sells its products directly and through channel partners.
