Motorola Slashes Another 2,800 Jobs

Motorola Inc. (MOT) said Monday it’s cutting another 2,800 jobs.

The embattled handset maker expects to take a pre-tax hit of $110 million to cover severance costs.

Motorola said it will take a total charge of $229 million in the first quarter of 2009 associated with severance, contract terminations, asset impairments and other costs.

“All of the company’s business segments, as well as various corporate functions, are impacted by these plans,” Motorola wrote in its April 6 SEC filing.
