A roundtable session quickly outgrew its small conference room. A session next door had to be cancelled to accommodate the overflow from the Nortel event. Moderator Victor Boehnert of the International Nortel Networks Users Association told the crowd that his group continues to support the bankrupt telecommunications giant. Four in five members of INNUA recently said they would move forward with deploying Nortel technology, despite the company’s financial problems.
But those statistics hardly quash the feelings of concern. Many customers won’t want to invest in a company that could be on borrowed time. Joel Hackney, president of Nortel Enterprise Solutions, said the company is busy in the market trying to put its customers’ minds at ease.
Nortel is expected e to file its restructuring plan next month in bankruptcy court.
