Today at CTIA, Samsung unveiled the first mobile device outside of a modem for use with Clearwire’s Clear WiMAX service, currently offered in Portland, Ore., and Baltimore, but suspected to reach more than 80 additional markets by next year.
The Samsung Mondi SWD-M100 is a compact WiMAX-enabled device with a full slide-out QWERTY keyboard and an optical mouse. The device operates on the Windows Mobile 6.1 system and provides an integrated Opera 9.5 browser for search capability. Mondi also features a GPS chipset, Wi-Fi connectivity and Bluetooth support.
