Obama Names Strickling to Lead NTIA

There’s a new face to the DTV transition.

President Obama plans to nominate Larry Strickling to lead the National Telecommunications and Information Administration (NTIA).

As NTIA chief, Strickling will advise the president on telecommunications. He’ll be more visible than most of his predecessors because the NTIA oversees the DTV converter box coupon program. The agency will also play a big role in doling out nearly $5 billion in stimulus grants for broadband.

Strickling, who was an advisor to the Obama campaign, replaces interim NTIA chief Anna Gomez.
