Agent Roundtable Provides Peer Sounding Board

Agents work steady, day in and day out, chipping away at new business and continuously polishing existing relationships — when is there time to network with peers, discuss best practices and see how your colleagues and competitors are faring?

The Channel Partners Conference & Expo is providing the perfect opportunity to hear how other agents are tackling daily challenges at today’s general session, “An Agent Roundtable.” The agent panelists will discuss the channel’s most pressing concerns, including convergence and a slow economy, and how they are dealing with them head on. Don’t miss this opportunity to ask questions of the panelists and the other attendees about the challenges your agency business is facing.

Panelist Steven Gerhardt, president of D&M Enterprise Group, said it’s very important to network with your agent peers — they should be the first source you go to when looking into a new opportunity.

“Ask for advice and get feedback on what their experiences are with other carriers,” he said. “The only way you can grow is to learn from others.”

“Peer networking provides invaluable information about how carriers are treating customers and agents, compensation plans, if payments are accurate and timely or require constant auditing – and provides the opportunities to form teamwork relationships often useful for tackling larger or more complex applications,” added Ben Stiegler, CEO of Synertel and also a panelist for the general session. “This is increasingly true as SaaS and managed/hosted services are becoming more mainstream in the agent channel.”

Panelist Laura Bernstein, president of CRA Inc., said agents can expect tips in today’s session on how to be a better sub, how to choose a master agent, how to support your clients, how to overcome objections and how to market your business.

“Sharing challenges and success stories just makes sense — there is no need to reinvent the wheel,” said Bernstein. “There is plenty of business for us all. Learning from each other is just smart business.”

Also joining the panelists will be David Goodwin, co-founder of Advanced Technology Consulting (ATC). “I’m excited to be a part of this agent roundtable,” said Goodwin. “We all need to share indirect partner best practices with each other in order to succeed and elevate the channel as a whole.”
