Reports indicate that a pair of touch-screen smartphones introduced by Samsung at the GSMA Mobile World Congress in Barcelona have enough multimedia features to satisfy the budding movie or music producer in anyone.
Omnia HD, a follow-up to the company’s Omnia, can record video at 720p resolution and, thanks to an HDMU port, can play the video back on a monitor or HD-ready television. The phone’s 8 megapixel still camera has autofocus and flash, plus geotagging and technology for detecting animals, faces and whether or not a subject blinks. Images captured by either camera can be edited directly on the handset.
The Beat DJ, designed to take the place of users’ personal media players, features Bang and Olufsen technology and unique DJ software that lets users create sounds and music, plus remix songs by adding effects.
Shipments of the new smartphones are scheduled to begin during the second quarter of the year.
