The newly formed Technology Channel Association, which represents the communications industry’s indirect sales channel, added two new vendor members: XO Communications Inc. and Level 3 Communications Inc.. Both carriers joined at the beginning of December.
In addition, the association has hired a management firm to help it run day-to-day activities of the group.
“We are very excited at the overwhelmingly positive response we have been receiving from the industry,” said TCA president Dany Bouchedid. “The two most recent additions to our membership base, Level3 and XO Communications, have not only decided to join the TCA but to also commit to active participation on our Vendor Advisory Board and, thus, be an integral part of the development of TCA’s programs and services.”
Since its inaugural membership drive at The Fall 2008 Channel Partners Conference & Expo in Boston, TCA has gained the support of 33 partner members and nine suppliers. Previously announced vendor members include Qwest Communications International Inc., Global Crossing Ltd., AireSpring Inc., BullsEye Telecom, NetWolves Corp., US Signal and PHONE+ magazine.
TCA was launched in August to represent – as the name implies – indirect channel organizations selling technology solutions.
Bouchedid said TCA’s initial goal is to unifying the industry by developing best practices, training and accreditation programs for indirect sales partners. Once these programs are well established, TCA can promote its members and/or certified TCA partners to potential customers.
To help the group deliver on those goals, TCA has hired CMA Association Management to run the day-to-day functions of the association. CMA Association Management is accredited by the Association Management Company Institute as a company that meets or exceeds the requirements of the ANSI (American National Standard Institution) Standard of service, quality and excellence in professional and trade association management.
Bouchedid said with CMA’s help, TCA is working on programs, such as health insurance, to rollout to members at the spring Channel Partners Conference & Expo in Las Vegas. At that time, TCA also expects to announce the members of the Vendor and Agent Advisory Boards, he said.
Other programs will be announced in the next 12-18 months, he said.
