Nortel’s (NT) recent acquisition of Pingtel should give small business owners more security when it comes to their open-source IP PBXs. Large vendors are generally considered best equipped to provide the type of security that comes with upgrades and support.
Nortel was using Pingtel-developed IP PBX software commercially before the acquisition. The deal gave Nortel the code base for Pingtel’s software and the engineers who developed it, something that should make customers even more comfortable.
