Level 3 Communications upgraded its quoting tools for members of its Business Partner Program, including the addition of discounting to sales proposals and enhanced customer qualification resources.
Craig Schlagbaum, vice president of indirect channels for Level 3, told PHONE+ during the Channel Partners Conference & Expo in Boston this week, that it upgraded its MasterStream PRM software to enable discounting authority for agents quoting the carrier’s dedicated Internet access, integrated access and private line services.
Partners have the ability to use the list price, a tier-one discount and a tier-two discount to win the business. Using the discounts does not impact the agents’ commissions, Schlagbaum said. He did not specify the percentages of the discounts, but indicated they would be fluid and monitored on a monthly basis.
Schlagbaum said the capability would be extended to other Level 3 products as they are added into the MasterStream platform. He expects that to happen in 2009.
Level 3 also has added a new tool called Easy Target, which maps the locations of U.S. businesses to the Level 3 network. That enables agents to identify potential customers that are on or near the carrier’s network.
This is in addition to another tool, Onramp, which helps partners identify the location of Level 3’s lit buildings.
