Get ready for State Commissioners, Part Deux. Last fall, COMPTEL PLUS held its first panel that featured state commissioners sharing their thoughts on regulatory issues such as USF reform and federal versus state decision making. Today, those themes will pick up where they left off.
Once again, longtime industry consultant Joe Gillan will moderate the session, flanked by Daryl Bassett, commissioner from Arkansas, and Eddie Roberson, chairman of the Tennessee Regulatory Authority. At press time, Gillan also was trying to secure a third commissioner from California.
The panel will explore “issues of critical importance” to the competitive community, said Gillan. Those topics include USF reform, state regulation of IP services and network retirement.
“These are leading state commissioners, with keen insight and years of experience,” Gillan said.
Indeed, last fall’s state commissioner panel gave attendees a chance to see how states view competition and vice versa. Today’s session will take that introduction a step further in what Gillan previously has said he hopes is the first of many informative interactions between COMPTEL PLUS members and the states.
