USCarrier Telecom LLC (Booth 613, and COMPTEL sponsor), a wholesale provider of high-speed, long-haul, fiber-optic transport, plans to upgrade an existing OC48 ring that will allow the company to deliver advanced SONET, Ethernet and wavelength services. The network upgrade is set to be completed by the end of the third quarter of 2007.
This upgrade will connect PoPs in Georgia from Savannah to Waycross, Waycross to Valdosta and Valdosta to Macon. USCarrier is deploying both the Fujitsu FLASHWAVE 7420 DWDM platform and FLASHWAVE 4500 MSPP on the companys current OC48 ring.
The addition of the DWDM platform will allow USCarrier to increase the capacity of the existing network, while the SONET platform provides scalable SONET across the network and will enable the company to deliver carrier-class TDM and Ethernet services. Increased bandwidth, service flexibility and Ethernet services will provide USCarrier with further revenue-generating opportunities, said the company.
USCarrier is constantly evaluating cost-effective, reliable solutions to enhance our network and complement the services we offer, said Jack Roberts, vice president of sales for USCarrier. We have seen an increased interest in carrier Ethernet and a growing demand for increased bandwidth. This OC48 ring upgrade will allow us to quickly meet those demands and allow us to be more competitive in those emergent markets.
With more than 3,200 long-haul route miles throughout the Southeast, USCarrier Telecom is committed to delivering innovative, cost-effective and reliable networking solutions. The companys long-term strategic plan is to enable next-generation, state-of-the-art networks throughout their metro and regional networks.
