Football legend Roger T. Staubach
Former football star Roger T. Staubach delivered Monday evenings keynote address, focusing on core values such as teamwork and integrity, which he no doubt honed throughout his military, sports and business careers.
Staubach was known for leading the Dallas Cowboys through several fourth-quarter comebacks, engineering no less that 23 come-from-behind victories. In Staubachs 11 years with the Cowboys eight of which he served as starting quarterback he led the team to four Super Bowls, winning Super Bowls VI and XII. Staubach also was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1985, his first year of eligibility.
These successful years in the NFL followed Staubachs four years of active duty with the U.S. Navy after graduating from the Naval Academy. While at the Academy, Staubach received college footballs top honor, the Heisman Trophy, and he is the only midshipman to win the Thompson Trophy Cup for best all-around athlete for three consecutive years.
In 1977, Staubach started The Staubach Company, a global real estate advisory firm that delivers cost-effective solutions for the users of office, industrial and retail space. The Staubach Company has 68 offices throughout North America, and completed transactions totaling $26 billion and 835 million square feet during the fiscal year ending June 2006.
Staubach recently was inducted into the Texas business Hall of Fame, and received the Horatio Alger Award. Other recent honors include the 2006 Congressional Medal of Honor Patriot Award, the NCAAs Teddy Roosevelt Award, the 100 Most Influential NCAA Student Athletes, and The American Jewish Congress Torch of Conscience Award.
In todays presentation, Servicing Clients through Teamwork, Staubach shared entertaining gridiron stories from his playing days with the Dallas Cowboys and incorporate examples of teamwork, vision and perseverance into his presentation. He also shared his life experiences as executive chairman of a 30-year-old commercial real estate advisory firm and how its core values of integrity, respect, teamwork, balance and leadership transcend to any workplace environment to create success.
